'THINGS DAD TAUGHT ME'
My father taught me...'logic'
"if you fall of that swing and break your neck,
you can't go to the store with me."
My father taught me...medicine
"if you don't stop crossing your eyes,
they are going to freeze that way."
My father taught me...to think ahead
"if you don't pass your spelling test,
you are never going to get a good job."
My father taught me...esp
"put your sweater on,
don't you think I know when you’re cold?"
My father taught me...to meet a challenge
"what were you thinking?
Answer me when I talk to you|. Don’t talk back to
me."
My father taught me...humor
"when the lawn mower cuts off your toes,
don't come running to me."
My father taught me...how to be an adult
"if you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."
My father taught me about...sex
"how do you think you got here?"
My father taught me about...genetics
"you are just like your father."
My father taught me about my...roots
"do you think you were born in a barn?
My father taught me about...the wisdom of age
"when you get to be my age,
you will understand."
My father taught me about...anticipation
"just wait until your father gets home."
My father taught me about...receiving
"you are going to get it when we get home."
And my all time favorite thing...justice
"one day you will have kids,
and I hope they turn out just like you...then you'll
see what it's like."
God our Father,
in your wisdom and love you made all things.
Bless those fathers who have taken upon themselves, the responsibility of
parenting.
Bless those who have lost a spouse to death ... or divorce
who are parenting their children alone.
Strengthen them by your love that they may be and become
the loving, caring persons they are meant to be.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen

God our
Father,
in your wisdom and love you made all things.
Bless these men,
that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honor them always
with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
