Holy Cross Students’ Home, Aymanam situated in Kottayam in the State of Kerala was opened in the year 1976 with Fr. Thampi Kayala, c.s.c. as its first Rector. This house is situated just five kilometres away from the main town of Kottayam and is not far from a well-known tourist resort known as Kumarakom. Earlier housed in an old building bought from a catholic on a sizeable plot of land, this formation house has the advantage of a river flowing just in front of it, adding to the beauty and serenity of the place. Hence, the many plants and trees that adorn the landscape do not suffer any want of water.

The state of Kerala can still boast of providing a relatively good number of priests to the Church in India and those who come to Holy Cross are received into this Students’ Home where they are accompanied in their formation by enthusiastic Holy Cross formators. They are helped in their academic pursuits and are taught to live in community, to excel in their human potential and to make themselves available to the needs of the people around.

Holy Cross Students’ Home, Aymanam, comes under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Changanacherry, of Syro-Malabar rite, and there are a good number of Catholic families of various rites living in the vicinity of this community house. St. Antony’s Chapel, on the campus, provides spiritual services to these families and enables the priests and students an opportunity to exercise pastoral ministry and spiritual services to these people. Daily Mass is well attended in this little chapel.
