Started in 1966 by Fr. Philip Payant, c.s.c., Holy Cross Students’ Home, Trichy, in the state of Tamil Nadu, was first situated in the heart of this small city in a place called Woriur. It was begun in order to provide for the initial formation of candidates coming from Tamil Nadu. In this house young candidates were helped to study English, complete their pre-university studies and were given their first lessons of community life in Holy Cross. At present we have 14 candidates who are dong there PUC. As the number of candidates from this region increased, the need was felt for a bigger house with better formation facilities. The present house was then built in an area on the outskirts of the city. The new house was inaugurated on May 11, 1983 when Fr. A. Arokiasamy was the Rector.
