The involvement of Holy Cross at St. Louis Centre, Dahisar, evolved out of a long association that the congregation has had with the archdiocese of Bombay. Back in 1968, under the guidance of Fr. Donald Bielby, c.s.c., a formation house was opened in Bandra. Candidates coming to Holy Cross from Goa and Vasai underwent formation here while they did their PUC and college studies in colleges nearby. On April, 1984, under the directorship of Fr. Agnelo Filinto, c.s.c., the formation program was shifted to Kalpana Bungalow in Dahisar, opposite St. Louis Centre.

Dahisar is a suburb of the sprawling metropolis of Mumbai, the nerve-center of trade and commerce in India. Mumbai is home to a wide cross-section of people, many of whom have migrated from other parts of the country in search of better standards of living. The Catholic population of Bombay Archdiocese is large and active and so many parish communities exist, one not too far from the other. St. Louis Centre is a sub-centre of Immaculate Conception Parish in Borivli and ministers to about 2000 Catholic families. Since their arrival in Dahisar in 1984, Holy Cross was actively involved in the parish, helping the pastors there in all the spiritual activities, both at the main church and in the sub-centre, St. Louis. Eventually, in June 2003, the Archbishop of Bombay requested Holy Cross to assume pastoral responsibility of St. Louis. Two priests and one scholastic now minister to the people through a variety of services besides celebrations of the liturgy. In time to come, a school too will be started in this place so that education is more easily available to the children of the area.
