St. Anthony of Padua Parish is located in the heart of the city of Tiruchirapalli (Trichy), a fast-growing city in the state of Tamil Nadu. Trichy itself is home to a number of religious congregations and a vibrant Catholic population coming from all walks of life and of varied economic backgrounds, mostly lower middle-class and poor people. Holy Cross, through Frs. Philip Payant, Mathew P., George Kallungal and Nathan, had been associated with this parish right from 1966 when a formation house had been opened in Woriur in the vicinity of the parish. The parishioners of the place were happy with the services provided by the priests who ministered to them in the typical Holy Cross spirit of collaboration. In 1999, the Bishop of Trichy formally entrusted this parish to Holy Cross for pastoral administration. Most of the credit goes to Fr. Arockiasamy, the then parish priest who did a great work which saw the church inauguration on 14th, November 2004. The people are enthusiastic in expressing their faith by their attendance at daily liturgies and their participation in the various pious associations in the parish. They also participate in the administration of the parish through the Parish Council and maintain a close relationship with their priests. At the moment, there is close collaboration between the priests and parishioners for re-building the parish church while liturgical services are being temporarily held on the roof of the Holy Cross community residence.
