Young
candidates who wish to become religious of Holy Cross are now recruited
from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra
and Tamil Nadu. According to the present program of formation, these
candidates are first received into what we call Holy Cross Students’
Homes situated in the State that they come from. It is in these
Homes that young candidates are first introduced to the Congregation
of Holy Cross and are given their basic orientation and training
for religious life. In these houses they learn the English language
and complete their pre-university studies while being helped to
identify and develop their personal talents. They learn to live
in community, sharing in the chores of the house, participating
in the liturgy, and enjoying times of recreation together. They
are also helped to become more aware of the poor and to involve
themselves in some kind of social apostolate. At present, Holy Cross
has a total number of six Students’ Homes situated in the
states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu for studies
in the PUC (Plus Two) and degree levels.
